NELSON STREET SHUL

The last purpose-built synagogue in London's East End
  • Home
  • About
Nelson Street Shul (or East London Central Synagogue as it is officially known) is the last of what was once dozens of purpose-built synagogues around Whitechapel in the East End of London. Despite the Jewish community being a small fraction of what it once was, Nelson Street continues to hold services on Shabbos and yomtoyvim.

The community is a mix of Jews who have lived and been members of shuls in the East End for their entire lives and others (typically a bit younger!) who have moved there more recently.

All are welcome to visit, join and get involved!
